Preamble
The creative economy represents one of the fastest-growing economic sectors globally, characterised by innovation, cultural expression, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship. Nigeria, and Akwa Ibom State in particular, possess significant creative potential driven by a vibrant youth population, rich cultural diversity, and expanding digital infrastructure.
In line with Akwa Ibom State University's commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and community development, the Centre for Creative Economy and Cultural Studies (CCECS) is established as an interdisciplinary platform for research, talent development, cultural documentation, enterprise support, and international collaboration.
This Policy Document provides the strategic direction, operational framework, and governance mechanisms for the effective and sustainable functioning of the Centre.
Mandate of the Centre

Run residencies, incubations, and curate showcases/festivals for creative sectors.

Provide intellectual property (IP), contracting, and market linkage support with legal and industry partners.

Publish sector briefs and document creative outputs and impact.

Manage studios, labs, venues, and booking frameworks for the creative community.

Facilitate the commencement and delivery of professional postgraduate programmes in the creative economy and cultural studies.

Carry out additional tasks or programmes as directed by the Vice-Chancellor and aligned with the University's strategic vision.
